Information for carers and consumers

The Victorian Centre of Excellence in Eating Disorders (CEED) is funded by the Victorian Government to support clinicians and services to provide up- to- date and evidence- based care for people in Victoria experiencing an eating disorder. We have also been involved in a range of projects aimed at increasing early identification and intervention in eating disorders in people of all ages.

CEED is not able to be a support organisation for consumers and carers, however if you are concerned about your child or yourself, we have links to resources, organisations and websites which can point you in the right direction.

Key messages:

  • Eating disorders can have serious medical and psychological effects. CEED recommends you, or your child, see a GP for a physical and mental health check- up, and to explore treatment and recovery options.
  • It is not safe to watch and wait with eating disorders.
  • Persist with help seeking even when others are not as concerned
