Overview of CEED Training & Events

The Victorian Centre of Excellence in Eating Disorders (CEED) is committed to delivering high-quality training programs that reflect the latest evidence based, and practice informed, care in the treatment of eating disorders.

CEED’s eating disorder training aligns with both the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Capability Framework and the National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) National Eating Disorders Strategy, equipping mental health professionals with the skills they need within the broader integrated system of care.

The CEED team consists of senior mental health clinicians and lived experience workers who, together strive to implement the principles of co-design, co-production, co-facilitation and co-evaluation across all aspects of training, consultation and professional development.

CEED training and professional development opportunities support health professionals and the Lived Experience Workforce at various stages of their journey, offering a structured pathway through four levels: Foundational level training; Core Treatment Model training; Extending Practice training; and Deepening Practice training.

Foundational Training

Foundational level training provides healthcare professionals and the lived experience workers with essential knowledge and skills to effectively identify, assess, and understand eating disorders. This provides a strong starting point for professionals who may be supporting or responding to those living with an eating disorder.

The below training options are prerequisites to a number of CEED Core Treatment model trainings:

Core Treatment Training

Core Treatment Training builds upon the foundational level eating disorder skill base. Here, healthcare professionals and the Lived Experience Workforce can further develop skills in evidence-based treatment approaches when responding to those with an eating disorder and their families. CEED offers comprehensive training opportunities in the following core treatment models:

  • Family Based Treatment (FBT)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – Enhanced (CBT-E)
  • Supportive Specialist Clinical Management (SSCM)
  • Collaborative Carer Skills Workshop (CCSW)
  • Cognitive Behaviour Guided Self-Help (CBT-GSH)
  • Evidence-Informed Dietetic Practice (EIDP)

Extending Practice

CEED’s Extending Practice professional development goes beyond foundational and core level knowledge to support health professionals and lived experience workers who would like to extend their skills in working with people with an eating disorder and their families. These trainings explore more specialised treatment models including:

  • Multi-Family Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (MFT-AN)

  • Temperament Based Treatment with Supports (TBT-S)

Deepening Practice

CEED’s Deepening Practice trainings are designed to provide professionals with a more refined skill set and nuanced understanding of working with people with eating disorders and their families. These professional development opportunities offer deeper skills and knowledge highlighting specific aspects of treatment and care. Past webinars, for instance, have focused on topics like supporting individuals with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), navigating the complex interplay between emotions and eating disorders, and understanding the unique challenges faced by neurodiverse individuals with eating disorders.
