Overview
Collaborative Carer Skills Workshop (CCSW) is an evidence-based carer intervention that has been shown to reduce psychological distress, burden, expressed emotion and emotional over-involvement in carers of people experiencing an eating disorder.
CCSW is based on the new Maudsley Approach and is an internationally recognised evidence-based workshop offering parents, carers and support people a range of practical skills and communication techniques to more effectively care for their loved one with an eating disorder.
Core principles of CCSW:
- Communication Skills: The workshop teaches effective communication techniques that promote understanding, empathy, and respectful interaction.
- Emotional Coaching: Participants learn how to support the emotional well-being of their loved ones, fostering resilience and coping skills.
- Motivational Interviewing: Through motivational interviewing techniques, caregivers acquire the ability to empower positive change and build intrinsic motivation for improvement.
- Problem-Solving Strategies: CCSW equips caregivers with practical approaches to problem-solving, enabling them to address challenges collaboratively and effectively.
CEED offers facilitator training to healthcare professionals and the Lived Experience Workforce, with the aim to increase the knowledge and skills to effectively deliver CCSW workshops within their local settings.
